Good Shepherd’s Fold is a nonprofit organization located in Uganda. It exists to make disciples through childcare and advocacy, education, and community development so that they are holistically building thriving families and transforming communities for Christ.

During our time there, we performed various puppet shows for the schools. The children watched the stories of Adam and Eve and Numbers 21 portrayed by puppets.

The staff prepared a delicious traditional Ugandan meal for us. It consisted of posho, beans, African eggplant, and rice. Everyone loved the meal and the good conversation with the staff.

The Director of Operations, Edward, took Dad, Jessica, and I around the grounds to look at their gardens. We got to see all sorts of fruits and vegetables. I learned pineapples actually grow from the ground and not in a tree, and instead avocados grow from trees.

Some of the children got their photo taken by Mom and I to update their profiles. After, we took some candids of them playing. I had fun taking silly pictures of some kids and showing the results to them. We also had the opportunity to play with the children after school was out. Dad played soccer, Jessica played some version of dodgeball, and Mom and I played volleyball which was of course, very fun.

While Mom and I were taking pictures of the kids, some of the older kids got to participate in a woodworking project that Dad, Jared, and Jessica all hosted. The kids practiced handling a saw and hammer, which a lot of them had never used a saw before. They created a soccer game that can be played with bottlecaps.

  1. Thanks, Gianna, for your explanation. This is so interesting! I enjoyed seeing the pictures also of Eric, Jared, and Jessica helping the children make the game. I also enjoyed seeing the pictures of you and Allison taking the children’s pictures. I loved the picture of you all doing the puppet show, too.
